In the making-a new book of trader portraits is almost here

Exciting times as our brand new book ‘In the Making’ is now with the printers and is available for pre-order!

‘In the Making’ is a new project, brought to you in collaboration with Frome photographer Alice Whitby who works on projects across the UK and internationally, and specialises in portrait photography. Throughout 2019 Alice has been visiting and photographing a small sample of our incredibly talented makers in their studios and workspaces.

Alice’s photographs offering a glimpse behind the scenes into the lives and workspaces of some of the market’s many talented makers, craftspeople and food producers, giving us an impression of what life is like for people who are committed to innovative design, traditional craft practice, and artisan food production.

The book features nineteen makers, including Alex Pole, The Bakemonger, Fi Underhill and Hunter + Collector and many others who create a huge variety of products. However, they are all unified by their passion and commitment to their craft, and to slow small-batch production. We hope that the book will offer a closer look at this type of production, and into the lives of the traders whose products are loved by so many visitors to The Frome Independent.

‘In the Making’ will be ready for release on Sunday 1st December, but is available to pre-order for £15 via our online shop now. We will post all pre-orders on Monday 2nd December, or you can collect from us at The Frome Independent on Sunday 1st December.
