Frome-On-Sea returns for 2018

“All that’s missing is the sea…”

Join us on Sunday 5th August at Frome-On-Sea – Somerset’s smallest, briefest urban beach… We’ll have real sand, seagulls, deckchairs and donkey rides, plus a whole load of summer good-times from our lovely traders.

Come and relax in a deckchair, build a sandcastle, or take a ride on one of our lovely therapy donkeys. The Vintage Mobile Disco will be in Club Tropicana mode, with a whole lineup of retro summertime sounds, and we may even have a visit from some very special friends of Rare Specieswho will help you get beach-body ready…

Another fantastic music lineup, courtesy of Nomad Audio Solutions, can be found on the Market Place stage, with live bands and acoustic performers playing throughout the day.

Our August trader lineup is looking pretty amazing too. Come and find scores of talented makers and craftspeople in Market Place, offering everything from sustainable summer fashion to artwork and handmade homewares. Along The Bridge, St. Catherine’s Frome and Cheap Street you can find all manner of makers, startups and new businesses in our Suitcase Sale. Down in the Market Yard our Flea traders will be out in force, with antiques, vintage goodies, throw-back fashion and nostalgic curiosities.

Our Homes & Gardens traders can be found here too, and this month they are overflowing with greenery. Come and pay them a visit if you’re in the market for flowers, houseplants or garden sculpture.

Foodies! We have an ever-changing array of amazing food businesses and street food vendors, and this month is no different. The cooks amongst you can stock up of fresh seasonal produce from Somerset Farmers Markets, who will be in their usual place next to the Boyles Cross in Market Place with everything from locally-reared water buffalo meat to Somerset-made tofu, as well as fresh bread, pastry, cheese and cider. Our food traders on Stony Street and in market place have yet more in the way take-home food – from pies and cakes to charcuterie and sauerkraut, all made by independent producers within 30 miles of Frome.

If you’re too hungry to wait until you get home, there’s street food galore throughout the market. Find traders selling everything from Hong-Kong bubble-waffles to Somerset sausage rolls along Scott Road, as well as fire-cooked food, lashings of local cider and handmade Mexican ice lollies in the Flea.

As always, our Park & Ride bus service will run throughout the day from Frome Medical Practice and Selwood School. Simply park your car and hop on one of our fully accessible buses which will shuttle you to the market in around 5 minutes. For those of you travelling from Bristol, Bath, Wiltshire or Dorset, there are train services that will deliver you to Frome in time fro the start of the market day, and whisk you home again when you’re done.
