Looking forward to a brighter 2021

We hope you are all managing to get through what has been a pretty bleak winter and have managed to stay safe and well. Usually, this time of year sees us gearing up towards our first market of the season. The first Sunday in March felt as though it was cursed for a while; with gale-force winds, storms and even snow putting a stop to our planned launch in recent years.  Last year we held our breath throughout February but, miraculously, the weather held for our first event of 2020. What none of us could have foreseen was that, in the end, March’s market would be the only event we would be able bring you that year. We were devastated not be able to return in 2020, but as many of you are aware, the scale of our event means that it would simply not have been safe to do so. We are a small team, who are based here in Frome, and whilst we were disappointed not to be able to operate our main event for much of last year, the safety of all of our brilliant staff, traders, local community and visitors was our top priority.

However, we are looking ahead to the future, and are hopeful about the prospect for large-scale live events to safely return later in the year. As the picture becomes clearer over the coming weeks and months we will keep you updated about what our plans are. In the meantime we will be launching our monthly markets online from Sunday 7th March, promoting traders and Frome businesses via our stories on Instagram and Facebook, and on our Market Directory over on our website . It has been heart-warming to see so much support for small independent businesses during the course of this tumultuous year; we’d like to share our awe and admiration for the tenacious people who have adapted their businesses to pandemic life, and thank everyone who has supported our designers, makers, food producers and the small creative businesses here in Frome. Please keep up the good work, stay safe and we hope to see you all very soon!
