Trader Profile-DIG

We have been catching up with traders from across the market this year, finding out more about what goes on behind the scenes and why they do what they do. We caught up with flea traders and musicians Pete and Chantelle, aka DIG, who you’ll find on market days with an incredible array of secondhand vinyl records.

Hello Pete and Chantelle!

Tell us a bit about your business

We started the business in 2018, in response to events in our home city of Salisbury that year. We are also both very experienced musicians and our recorded work is widely available – even on vinyl! As lifelong audiophiles and record collectors we have a broad product knowledge and are constantly seeking and finding sought-after LPs and singles for our expanding customer base.

Where do you get your inspiration – what motivates you to do what you do?
We do what we do because we’ve both loved music and vinyl since we were kids. The thrill of finding new stuff never goes away.

Why did you choose to come and trade at the Frome Independent?
We have several musician friends in and around Frome so one thing naturally led to another.

What do you like about market trading ?
Playing records all day, talking about records with our customers and of course selling records!

Tell us about your own favourite or best-selling product.
Too many to mention. Probably whatever we just bought or sold.

What is your favourite Frome shop, or stall to visit at The Frome Independent?
Chantelle: the typewriter stall – Charlie Foxtrot in the Flea Market
Pete- Worley’s Cider!

And finally, some quick fire questions….
Favourite book? Dubliners
Describe your dream day off. This one.
What are you listening to right now? (CD/radio?podcast?)
Nothing. Silence is golden too.
What are you cooking/ eating / drinking at the moment?
Nothing yet but working up to some home made meatballs in tomato sauce. Old school.

Thanks Pete and Chantelle! You can find DIG in our Flea market section on Sunday 2nd June, or go follow them on Facebook for their other market dates and locations.
