We Are The Village Green Preservation Society

As autumn draws near, we are hosting a market that looks to the abundant seasonal food that can be harvested, foraged and preserved in the countryside in Frome, Somerset and beyond.

Come and join us at The Village Green Preservation Society on Sunday 7th October, where we will have talks and demonstrations on fermenting, foraging, preserving and permaculture from our friends at Wild & Fermented. Market-goers can have a go at making vegetable ferments, chat to experts about how to forage for edible plants and medicinal herbs, and learn about how to live off-grid. Watch this space for a schedule of talks and demonstrations that will take place throughout the day.

The Village Green Preservation Society will also be the setting for a town-wide jam making competition. Residents are invited to bring their own homemade jams, conserves, jellies and marmalades down to The Village Green, where award winning jam-maker Mary Longford of Absolutely Preserves, will taste and award prizes.

Sustainable Frome will also be with us, giving market goers a chance to have a go on their community apple press, and sample some freshly pressed juice. Our local charity this month is Dorothy House, with all proceeds from apple juice sales going towards this vital local cause.
