Music is at the heart of The Frome Independent, with our resident Vintage Mobile Disco playing vintage vinyl on ‘The Village Green’ and our town centre Busking Stage. Every month we showcase local musicians with a great line up of bands, choirs and solo performers between 11 and 3. As well as a small contribution from us, performers take home all contributions made during their set.

The River Frome
Our May market was a celebration of the River Frome and we commissioned this short animation from local artist and The Frome Independent trader, Laura Holden. “I was excited to be asked to create an animation for The Frome Independent on the May markets theme of The River Frome. In our initial chats about the project with the market team we spoke about British folklore surrounding rivers, in particular river-hag Jenny Greenteeth who personifies the darker side of rivers. I wanted to create a benevolent but somewhat fierce version of Jenny Greenteeth, a figure of protection of the animals a plants that The River Frome is home to.”
