Business Manager (Part-Time)
Salary: £35,100 pro rata (£18/hour) + pension Hours: 20 hours per week Leave: 25 days per annum plus public holidays (pro rata) Reports to: Managing Director
The Role
As Business Manager, you’ll play a key role in keeping The Frome Independent financially healthy. This is a hands-on position where you’ll manage day-to-day finances, explore new income streams, and support fundraising initiatives that ensure our market continues to thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
● Monitor income and expenditure, reconcile accounts, and prepare reports and forecasts
● Work with the administrator and accountant to implement financial policies
● Produce annual directors’ and social impact reports
Fundraising & Income Generation
● Identify and pursue sponsorship, grants, and fundraising opportunities
● Develop new income-generating schemes and partnerships
Operations
● Invoice traders, process payments, and manage market expenses
● Administer utility accounts and recharge costs to partner businesses
● Count, check, and deposit cash from stalls and donations
Collaboration
● Support colleagues during busy periods and contribute to the smooth running of the market
● Uphold health & safety, sustainability, and ethical spending practices
Person Specification
Essential Qualifications & Skills
● Degree-level education (or equivalent experience)
● Strong financial management experience
● Ability to analyse complex data and produce clear reports
● Excellent organisational skills and self-motivation
● Knowledge of events, markets, arts, or business sectors
● Creative problem-solving and practical approach
Desirable Experience
● Fundraising or sponsorship in the arts/events sector
● Developing strategies, policies, and partnerships
● Experience in income generation within a business setting
